WHAT IS A PRODUCER
(and why do I need one?)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
| A record producer is an individual working within the music industry, whose job is to oversee and manage the recording (i.e. "production") of an artist's music. A producer has many roles that may include, but are not limited to, gathering ideas for the project, selecting songs and/or musicians, coaching the artist and musicians in the studio, controlling the recording sessions, and supervising the entire process through mixing and mastering. |
Aren’t you striving for your music to be the best it can be? When you use a qualified, experienced music producer, the final product will be better for it!
There are many reasons why an artist (or their label) hires a producer when it’s time to record an album. Having someone steering the ship who has both music and studio talent—someone in tune with the market—makes all the sense in the world. Much like a manager for an artist handles business, allowing the artist to focus on their music, a producer handles “business” in the studio, allowing the artist to focus on their artistry. The final product will better for it.
And for songwriters in today’s highly competitive market, it makes sense to get song demos that sound like what the top writers are pitching. You will open more publisher and A&R doors with a top notch, fully-produced demo, and working with a producer who is also a songwriter and has a great network in the industry, gets you that. The final product will be better for it.
